Ventricular Tachycardia

Hi, I'm Mark McCauley, MD PhD

Here's why I created ECGs for Students

ECGs for Medical Students is an immersive in-depth course for students who want to boost their capabilities in reading ECGs. Although many schools teach ECG basics, the concepts may not be taught with the depth or frequency to develop mastery of the topic. However, as you transition to a more clinical role on rotations and into residency, you will be increasingly called on to make accurate decisions in a pinch. This course was developed to address this unmet need to take your diagnostic capabilities to the next level.

As a board-certified Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, I have over a decade of experience in reading ECGs, treating cardiovascular disease, and managing cardiac arrhythmias. I teach medical students at the University of Illinois, where I have honed my teaching skills and truly understand the needs of medical students. Additionally, I use ECGs in my research, where we study how to prevent strokes from arrhythmias like atrial fibrillation. From these diverse experiences, I’ve learned what works for students, what the potential roadblocks are to understanding concepts, and how to overcome these barriers. I want you to learn from my experience. I’m here to help you learn what you need to be successful on the wards and boards.

Testimonials:

"I really love this online course! I liked the structure you recommend for reading ECGs. I found it very helpful, and I think it's important to start sticking with that structure early on or else you'll just get lost and overwhelmed later on. That's something I regret not practicing early on, but I'm happy to say your structure is helping me focus more in a strategic way. I also liked the examples you provide for each topic. Great way of putting each ECG into clinical context and for pattern recognition. I also liked how you highlighted the portions from the ECG you wanted us to follow, made it so much easier to not get lost in what you were saying. I would definitely recommend this course to other students !"
